Guide for finding book reviews

Book Reviews as Sources of Information

Book reviews provide critical information about the content of a book and can save a researcher valuable time in making initial resource selection. Reviews can be found in popular, trade, scholarly and news resources.

Getting Started: To locate a book review, it is helpful to have the following information

  • Author's full name
  • Full title of the book
  • Year the book was first published

General Book Review Sources

Databases that index journals, magazines and newspapers in a particular discipline may also contain book reviews. See a list of databases organized by discipline below.

Discipline Specific Book Review Sources

These subject-specific databases allow you to limit your search to book reviews (see options in Advanced Search). You may search for a specific book title, OR browse a list of book reviews on a subject by conducting a keywords or subject search.
