Hewes Library: Borrowing from Other Libraries: WorldShare

WorldShare is an interlibrary loan service that offers patrons access to materials from thousands of libraries across the country and around the world.

WorldShare is available to current Monmouth College students, faculty and staff, and is free of charge in most cases. Patrons from outside the immediate Monmouth College community are encouraged to contact their local public library for interlibrary loan services.

Complete the WorldShare book or article request form with citation information (title, author, journal volume, etc). Patrons can also submit a WorldShare request directly from all EbscoHost databases.

What can I request through WorldShare?

You may be able to borrow books, articles and multi-media items (at the discretion of the lending library). If materials are available in the I-Share catalog, it is recommended to order them that way as I-Share items usually arrive more quickly.

Who can use Interlibrary Loan? All current students, faculty and staff of Monmouth College
What can I request? You may request articles, books (be sure to check the Hewes Library catalog and the I-Share catalog first), scores, films, CDs and software. Items are lent at the discretion of libraries around the world.
How long does it take for materials to arrive? Materials arrive, on average, in 7-10 days, but it varies greatly depending on the item. *NOTE: COVID-19 quarantines will cause an additional 3 day delay.* Articles will be emailed to you and may arrive much faster.
How do I know when the item has arrived? You will receive an email.
Where do I pick up the item? Articles (or a link to the article) will be emailed to you. The article is yours to keep. If you requested a book, you will receive an email to pick up the item at the Hewes Library information desk.
What does it cost? It is FREE!
When will the item be due? Due dates are at the discretion of the lending library, but in general, in 3-4 weeks.
Can I put books obtained via WorldShare or I-Share on reserve? No, books from other libraries may NOT be placed on reserve. Faculty should make a purchase request for course reserve materials.
