Library Instruction Services

Central to the Library's primary mission is teaching students information literacy skills to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Information Literacy

We provide instruction to all students with the Association of College and Research Libraries' (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education in mind. Library research instruction is provided for every first year student within the COMM101 (Fundamentals of Communication) curriculum. This collaboration builds skills locating authoritative evidence and critically evaluating information.

Additional research instruction in discipline-specific courses will build on this foundation and is encouraged.

We collaborate with faculty to design:

Research Instruction Sessions tailored to the course research goals.

  • In-class
  • Online via Zoom
  • Pre-recorded video  (example)

Course Research Guides to supplement research instruction sessions and provide ongoing subject-specific support. See a list of current course and subject research guides.

Research Assignments that provide hands-on, practical experience to meet course goals.
